JPD confirmed to JJ that Senator John Horhn was arrested for a DUI last night. The arrest took place on Beasley Road shortly before midnight. The Senator spoke at community meeting last night about Jackson crime. Of course, who can forget this part-aaay. JPD was unable to confirm if the Senator demanded someone call Gary Rhodes.
Update: Can't resist. Here is this email Jeff Good sent out earlier this week:
Senator John Horhn is an extraordinary public servant.
From his days running the State Film Commission and parts of the Economic Development Agency for the State of Mississippi under the Mabus administration to his 2007 run for Mayor of the City of Jackson to his 21 years as Senator for District 26, few people know more about Jackson and quality of life than John. I am honored to call him my friend.
Senator Horhn is making a bold statement and making a call to action to openly and honestly discuss the issue of crime in the Capital City.
"No part of this city has been spared from the recent onslaught of crime in Jackson. Everybody's been affected", states Horhn. "If you have experienced property crime or violent crime in the past 18 months in the Capital City, or if you are concerned about the rise in crime, I am asking you to join me at the State Capitol on the 2nd floor, Old Supreme Court Chamber, Thursday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 PM so that we may hear from you about the nature of the crimes being committed and what you think are some solutions that might be implemented."

Wow, give credit to Jackson for not DISCRIMINATING!!!! Speak evil about the PO-lice and they will get yo ass.
Let's see how he "consults" his way out of this.
He was just doing a little research on crime after attending the community meeting.
lets see how this one plays out and see if the charges stick.
Looks like Johnny raised too many pints.
Any video of this one ?
He is not the first and will not be the last State Senator or Legislator to get a DUI. I just hope he is treated like I would be if I were stupid enough to get a DUI.
Look for the 'I exercised poor judgement' speech. Did he insist on calling Gene Magee?
He needed some street CRED for his next "Bad Boyz" birthday bash invitation. Maybe they will put his mugshot on it this year. Kingfish, the mugshot is public, so I expect to see it soon.
The takeaway?
Don't publicly endorse Lumumba's political foes in city elections.

Also...don't drink and drive.
Well, well, well. Now you are begging the question Mr. Kingfish as to whether or not Good's friend and extraordinary public servant was invited to stop by the PIE Lounge after last night's crime confab at the Capitol.
damn!!!! just when you thought is was safe to come out of the woods....
Not that I"m a fan of drinking and driving, but I see an awful lot people posting on here about that particular subject. I, for one, will admit that I have had a glass of firewater too many and driven a vehicle. I"m taking a guess that many of you on here have also. Yes, I know he was at a meeting where he called for civil participation...at least he's trying to do some good here. Let's think about not casting that stone....
Also...don't drink and drive.
Why? it's not a crime.

1:48 - You obviously haven't lost a loved one to a drunk driver.
Did he have to call a bail bondsman?
bet he gets OFF
He is an addict like a lot of Jacksonians and suburbanites. He just needs a judge or a concerned jailer to convince him.
Ask the EMT lady run over earlier this year by a drunk driver. AAA research shows that less of the public considers the hazard a concern as in earlier polls. Hospitals, emergency room docs, EMTs, pastors, insurance underwriters, and funeral directors know the truth.
I avoid getting out after dark and know the hazard is just as great as armed robbery or car theft.
10:11 pm It is sad that you are afraid to get out after dark but that says more about you than the problem of drunk drivers.
Those who have been around alcohol know that not everyone holds their liquor the same. We've all seen people who are "impaired" and shouldn't drive after one drink and I've ridden with some folks who aren't good behind the wheel sober as they can't keep their eyes on the road.
A DUI doesn't mean someone is a " drunk". It doesn't mean someone was necessarily driving recklessly as they could have been pulled simply for speeding which happens to sober drivers as well.
We've become a society of people who over-react to things which have been common in the human experience for centuries and who react with very little information.
Mr. Horhn may have barely tested over the limit which some believe is rather low.
At any rate, I applaud Mr. Hornh for trying to do something about crime and hate that he didn't use better judgment after the meeting.
I don't understand those of you who seem to relish the mistakes of others as though you never err.
We used to believe " there but for the grace of God, go I" and weren't quick to judge " until we walked in someone else's shoes".
And, we knew to regard " gossips", " busybodies" and " troublemakers" with suspicion.

Was always taught to exercise caution around know-it-alls -- such as yourself -- too.
9:02 When's the last time you signed a death certificate for someone who was killed after being hit by a drunk driver? Never, I would wager. Have you ever had to break the news to the family that someone is dead, knowing the drunk who killed him is in another exam room in the same ER?
If you haven't, STFU.
I personally think it was a setup....
Pretty stupid to set up a do nothing Senator.
"There but for the Grace of God go I".
He had enough time between the meeting and the blue light to rake the yard, smoke ribs and watch CSI. Why associate the meeting with the drinks? He had a few too many and got pulled over. Happens every day. Death certificate or not. There's a punk on every corner in Jacktown waiting to hurt you and steal your shit. And you're pontificating about auto traffic?
