Ran a different poll from what is usually on here last week: What is your favorite cellphone. Over half of you chose the Iphone. I was a little surprised the Blackberries didn't do better as they sell just as well. Guess its all about the apps.
Iphone | 159 (51%) |
BB Bold (either one) | 17 (5%) |
HTC Hero | 13 (4%) |
Palm Pre | 2 (0%) |
BB Curve | 39 (12%) |
BB Torch | 13 (4%) |
HTC Aria | 1 (0%) |
BB Pearl | 3 (0%) |
Droid Incredible (HTC or Mot.) | 3 (0%) |
Samsung Galaxy | 16 (5%) |
HTC Desire | 23 (7%) |
Motorola Droid | 15 (4%) |
HTC Tilt | 1 (0%) |
HTC Evo | 1 (0%) |

Obviously, yours is not a very tech savvy readership.
Yes the apps are great but they are user freindly!!We turned my son's father into a iphone guru with using internet, email, and apps and he was the type that always had a problem with his cell phone no matter what phone or what carrier.....
I was surprised. On TD the EVO and Incredible are the favorites. They laugh at the Iphone. I'm holding out for the Torch. Once I figure out a phone, I like to keep it figured out for awhile. I stayed with Nokia for years for that reason. I got BB figured out so eventually I'll get the Torch. I like a real keyboard.
It only took me about two days to ditch the iPhone, I need my device to make phone calls, to be stable, plus I do not play games on my phone. It's fine if you do not actually need it to do anything.
The Droid X is the best phone on the market without compare right now and the virtual keyboard works really well, but I understand needing the tactile response.
Yeah, I agree with you the phone calls need to be stable. That was one area where Nokia had everyone beat. Just wish they had not fallen so far behind on smartphones. the E71 was supposed to be pretty good but they are still lagging. I don't think ATT offers the Droid X although I could be wrong.
Nope, the X is not available at ATT&T. And I am not looking forward to Verizon getting the iPhone either. Let those folks ruin AT&T's service every time MacApple rolls out a feature that everyone else has had since 2002. Like MMS.
The only difference between an iPhone and a rock? Touch screen.
I can't wait. I figure ATT's network improves when more Iphone users jump to Verizon's.
I'm sure the Cellsouth people were watching this poll/survery very closely.
Yeah, thanks, KF, for wishing your network's problems on mine.
FRIEND.
I am a loyal Cellular South customer (and by loyal I mean I was bound by a contract)
I have the BB Curve...great phone to make calls on (which....is what I thought a phone was for?...to make calls?)
I am wanting to perhaps move to a touch phone...any recommendations on a good phone? I don't follow the crowd when it comes to technology. I like to get my email, have facebook, and MAKE CALLS (I know! shocker!)
I tend to wait awhile and read reviews before I make my choice.
I REFUSE to get on a stupid waiting list for a phone....really? Lame.
Rebekah, the Blackberry Torch is the newest touchscreen Blackberry. I can say from experience that the Storm was not that good, but I did like the tactile response of the screen. The Torch also has a slider keyboard.

I don't know if they have it at CSouth, because the site is down right now.
Torch is ATT only right now. I've heard good things about that one. BB's problem is they made it very hard to develop App's. Thing about BB is once they figure something out though, they tend to be very good.
Cellsouth has a problem getting new phones because of the exclusivity arrangements. I was going to do a story on it last year, met with Cellsouth official, got all the data, then got my hands on the Heather Spencer police report, then the Evans case, so I unfortunately didn't finish the job. Will probably go back and update it in the next few weeks now that I am thinking about it. Interesting subject.
It's probably just the iphone users who voted. :-P ha.
From a loyal reader via BB torch.
Funny, but in my experience I can pretty much nail down the consumer base that complains (or comments) ...it is attorneys...they have habits that they don't even realize that they do what they do like every one else in the group mentality.

Hey what ever happened to the Cellular South alienation of affection case? Going soft?
Rebekah I know you are married but you are HOT! Even a prude like Mitchell would have to agree.
Um...thanks I guess? I would say opinionated, highly sarcastic, and brutally honest...but not so much hot. But thanks! :)
I'm a prude. Dang, someone doesn't read my blog. Right now, I am still number two for Kate Middleton NUDE.
Hey hair care guy, you are number three....
KK, I am still seeing me at number two. And number one on google.uk and .ca.
Paul's got it right. This epitomizes the iPhone crowd (and, sadly, over half of the JJ readers with smartphones apparently):
Typical iPhone User
On top of that, AT&T's network means it's only an iPod Touch way too often.
Me Too, Me Too, Me Too, I wonder how they got the recording of every iPhone owner on the planet and condensed it into a single voice? They must have recorded all those voices on a Droid.
That was a pretty funny video. And true.
For those wanting a touch screen smartphone with Cellular South, I recommend the HTC Desire. It basically does everything the iphone does (apps, internet, video, photo w/flash, etc), and you can get it for $99 now I believe. If you need 2 lines, they offer a buy one get one free deal.
I had an iphone for 2 years with AT&T, and it worked great... at first - then the dropped calls started and kept getting worse until I couldn't justify paying for crappy service. Now I pay less for better service and have same capabilities (actually the HTC is much faster and more capable than my old iphone 3G).
CS also has a new Samsung with touch screen that seems to have good reviews as well, but I haven't actually used one. CS also announced that they have teamed with Samsung to provide a 4G network late 2011, so that may be something to think about long term.
Dang, I sound like a CS marketing employee..
