Food Fight!!!

Y'all Politics posted this video taking a shot at Childers a few days ago:

The left-wing bloggers in town didn't like it so they decided to make a few comments of their own. First local attorney Jim Craig called the ad anti-Semitic on his blog:
"At Y'all Politics, the focus has been on Rep. Travis Childers, who has yet to declare himself on the President's proposal. And this time YP has gone too far. The two-minute video attack on Rep. Childers' visit to Israel is -- yes, I will say it -- Anti-Semitic. What else do you call an ad that plays Jewish music in the background, tells the Representative to "get a souvenir yarmulke" on the trip and shows pictures of orthodox Jews juxtaposed with Americans at Town Hall meetings? (Note: I am attacking the ad, not the website or its owner.).."
Ipse Blogit

Then of course, the Jackson Free Press takes a shot at Y'all as it can't stand the fact that the Clarion-Ledger published an article about Y'all Politics last Sunday:
"Apparently, though, this is the same blogger that was featured in the Ledger on Sunday. It's stunning to see local-corporate media give credence to bloggers who post unsubstantiated rumor, not to mention ugly anti-Islamic, anti-woman and now anti-Semitic rhetoric. Either the mainstream media are blind to extremism, or they don't care. Not sure which is worse..."

I fail to see the antisemitism in this video. I suspect had he gone on vacation to Italy we would have heard a squeeze box playing instead of a klezmorim and pictures of the Pope, soccer fans and the colosseum. Not exactly anti-italiano. Typical attempt by lefties to divert criticism of a favored politician by attempting to smear the critic.

My $.02,

Pretty pathetic attempt to trash Childers though - when has/does Obama come to Mississippi to speak on healthcare?

Stop the bullshit parsing and cover up.

The ad mocks Jewish religious culture. The message is that Childers would rather spend time with Jews in the Holy Land than stay home and address his constituents concerns regarding the healthcare legislation.

Lose the music and the uniquely Jewish imagery. Replace them with pictures of the skyscrapers in modern downtown Tel Aviv and the beach resorts on the Mediterranean. Plug in some photos of Israeli military equipment in action like tanks and rocket launchers.

Then you will have removed the offensive connections the video creator was obviously trying to make. The video is anti-Semitic.

The ad mocks Mississippi rednecks as uncivil, and I'm pissed. It really hurt my feelings and makes me want to cry.

Mocking someone's heritage is discrimination and somebody should be able to sue/have arrested/shoot the person that mocks it.

WAAAAAH!!!!!

This whining about "mocking" stereotypical heritage markings is laughable. As was said earlier, if he were visiting some the part of the world, stereotypical aspects of that culture would have been used to show that he appears more concerned with the culture of another society in the world instead of his own. Whether it's accurate or not, that was the message it was conveying, not some voodoo anti-Semitic conspiracy.

Whether it was done with taste or distaste is debatable, whether it was anti-Semitic or not is really reaching.

They should have done a version of O Brother, Where Art Thou and the Soggy Bottom Boys singing.

Maybe then people would get the real point of all the complaints concerning the facts that the very ones that are supposed to be concerned are dodging serious questions from their respective states...not just in Mississippi. Also, the ones that I have seen are ticked because the people in their states are actually questions and are actually expecting answers this time around.

So, they are all under fire and seem to all be waiting to hear from their "constituents" without every telling anything.

When the very questions they are dodging are from the people of their states.

Brings to my mind a picture of the big guv dancing on the stage.

Anon' @ 1226 hr: "...The message is that Childers would rather spend time with Jews in the Holy Land than stay home and address his constituents concerns regarding the healthcare legislation...."

Your are absolutely right and most of his constituants would have the same concern if he spent his only time off with the Pope in Rome, touring Cantabury Cathedral in England, , hiking the 3000 steps of Machu Picchu, or vacationing with Billy Graham, Jr. on a beach with hula girls in Hawaii. Since he hasn't made his thoughts about the health care debate clear he owes it to the people of North Mississippi to be here talking and listening to us and not somewhere else studying God know what.

Grow up and grow some thicker skin. Me thinks thou dost parse-test to much.

@1:04 show us anywhere where Childers' announced that he was going to Israel to meet with traditional Hebrew folk song singing orthodox Jews wearing yarmulkes.

Where does the IDF member of the tender gender fit into your screed?

Ugh....and I guess all of those that are complaining actually believed that Professor Gates was racially profiled as well.

Lange throws his water carriers under the bus:

YP - Apology on Childers video on Obamacare and his trip to Israel

Having run YallPolitics for five years (with over 17,000 posts and 45,000 comments), I think this is the first time I’ve felt compelled to apologize for any content on the site. I created and posted a video on Sunday evening about Rep. Travis Childers (D-MS) position on Obamacare and his visit to Israel during the Congressional recess that I now regret.

I messed up, and I apologize to those who might have taken offense to it.

Several dozen other congressmen from both parties, including Rep Gregg Harper (R-MS) have made the same trip this month. Rep. Harper has been very publicly against the Obamacare proposal, hence he was not outlined in the piece, the intent of which was to focus on positions on Obamacare.

I did get a little feedback from a couple of friends in the Jewish community who I trust who said that the piece, while not overtly inflammatory or offensive, had imagery that was “on the line” and could be taken the wrong way without the political context. Since the Jewish faith was certainly not the focus of the video, I immediately made the decision to remove it from YouTube and from YallPolitics.

Again, there was certainly no defamatory intent, and I sincerely apologize for its creation and inclusion on the site.

Why are you so jealous of Lange? Is it because he has actual credentials and you do not?

Appears that JDBerry is taking the news extremely hard.

I ain't JDBerry. I'm just one more minion out there laughing at your ass.

What will Nunnelee do? The GOP can't use Y'allP as a mouthpiece and then run away from it when Lange's original content blows big holes in their feet. Stick to aggregation Alan. It is much safer and you still get invited to those Repub insider parties.

Please. You're just pissed the GOP doesn't give a shit about you.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
