Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement Tuesday.
Approximately 10:30am a deputy with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a white Kia SUV in regard to a traffic violation. The vehicle was stopped on Hwy 49 near Hwy 469 in Florence, MS. While speaking with the driver, later identified as Christopher Luis Rivero, the deputy began to suspect that they were involved in criminal activity. A narcotics K9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics within vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and revealed approximately 96 pounds of marijuana concealed inside of the SUV.
Christopher Luis Rivero was arrested for Trafficking a Controlled Substance and transported to the Rankin County Adult Detention Center where he is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Police have arrested a man for the murder of a 21-year-old who was found shot dead near the Everglades three years ago. Christopher Luis Rivero, 23, was arrested Tuesday after voluntarily responding to speak to investigators, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department. Rivero is charged with second degree murder with a deadly weapon in the murder of 21-year-old Adrian Lopez. Article

So weird to know we walk around with people like this. That is a man who is likely shot a person and disposed the body in the everglades and here he is in jackson just driving around. We are not a serious country. Yes we are technologically advanced but we have thousands of these kind of freaks in walking distance of our sons and daughters. Thanks for the research KF
Someone should tell these guys that Jackson does not care about stopping crime like Rankin County does. If they stay in Hinds county there are less likely to be busted.

I am amazed the folks sending vehicles loaded with drugs out of Texas have not learned to bypass Rankin County/Metro Jackson. Ray Charles could see the sheriff is using the license plate tracking system to target these vehicles with Texas plates and stopping them with bogus traffic violations.

When they get to Magee, cut across Hwy 28 to Hwy 27 in Georgetown. Then Hwy 27 to I-55. You may drive further, but likely will not get pulled over. That being said, I hope this guy serves time.
You would be wrong. The local LEOs are on to the alternative routes and have interdiction units on the alt routes. Not unusual to see LEOs from one county assisting with interdiction in a different county under MOUs or interlocals. Now that the feds and DPS are hogging the interstates, these alt routes are more lucrative.
12:24, or so sure about that. We were in that area on a backroad zooming along and saw MHP nab someone. Slowed my roll until no blue lights then hit the gas. Lol

As a Rankin Countian, I have a lot of issues with Sheriff Bailey. This is certainly not one of them.

It's natural. It grows wild, given to us by God. It helps with PTSD, glaucoma, chronic pain. It's safer than tobacco. It's not any worse than alcohol, if not better than alcohol. The biggest part of the illegal drug problem is You. Because You keep using it. Stop creating the demand and the supply will dry up.
