State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.
Today State Auditor Shad White announced an initiative to be led by the State Auditor’s Government Accountability Division to audit small agencies, boards, and commissions to identify wasteful spending and noncompliance with state law and regulations.
“During my time as State Auditor, we’ve identified hundreds of millions of dollars in waste across state government, and we’re not stopping,” said State Auditor Shad White. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a large federal program or a small state agency; if they’re wasting your tax dollars, we’re going to find it and let taxpayers know.”
Previously White’s office conducted an audit for waste at large state agencies called Project Momentum. It found hundreds of millions of dollars in waste, like:
- Wasteful spending on state vehicles and office space
- State agencies buying expensive technology, like a $5,800 television screen
- Wasteful use of the state plane by politicians
- Too much spending outside the classroom in education
“It’s time to look at the small agencies, too, so I’ve tasked my staff with auditing and analyzing these tucked-away, sometimes-forgotten government offices,” said White.
The work is scheduled to be complete before the end of 2027.

Shad for governor! I don’t want liberal Gilbert RINO
You mean like using agency resources to promote the book you wrote and defend a lawsuit where you were sued personally? Asking for a friend.
The low hanging fruit is getting even lower. (There, we got that out of the way.)
Howdy Doody doesn't have a chance. He has pissed off the real republicans here and thrown his lot with MAGA, which is in decline and will soon be over.
I don't want to sound like a broken record, but Shad has had the Leflore County Supervisors shenanigans handed to him on a silver platter, and they basically told him to fuck off. Until he gets these guys, he has no credibility. What say you, Shad?
Worm is turning - pot is boiling and you all are boiled already….just don’t feel it….
Shad would probably be a good governor, if he could get along with whoever is Lt Gov and Speaker. But I doubt he can get elected. Of course, I am probably wrong.
So very sad that actual "leading" isn't expected of Mississippi "leaders" and simply "getting along" with the good ole' boys/girls is the prerequisite - merely to perpetuate and ensure Mississippi stays at the bottom of every metric, and keeps its citizens in the dark while financially fleecing them. .
I think the real fix for all these elected officials running for higher office is they must resign their current position before seeking another office. That would get rid of the "throw-my-hat-in-ring" bunch of also-rans.
Shad is just like the libs he rails against everyday. He does the very thing he accuses you of. He will do an audit tie up employees who should be serving the public and find nothing. Then he will go and promote himself on social media as the saviour of the world. He was the guy that everyone hated in school.
The approval rate for the GOP President today is 39% and he's been spending our tax dollars like a drunken sailor to make our national capitol "fancy" enough to suit him. Worse, the deficit is higher, nearing $2 trillion.
The last surplus for the federal government was in 2001.
I would suggest the Republicans in Congress and in state government get their acts together. Read and learn what defines a successful economy and good governance and isn't. It isn't personal wealth or charm or trying to turn the White House into a redneck version of Versailles!
Shadster will win the Gov race and by 2028, Trump will be the most popular and successful President ever. Bank on it sillies.
