Somehow, I don't think the Clarion-Ledger meant to publish this headline.
NO, the Mayor did NOT resign.

Feels like one of those premature obituary situations. I reckon it pays to have a headline ready to go, especially where the subject matter is inevitable.
Hope springs eternal.
We can only hope that one day soon this headline from CL will be true.
That wasn't very "woke" of them.
They rolled the dice hoping to get the scoop on everyone.
Don't pick on the C-L. My parrot loves it.
I am not going to proceed as a resigned mayor.
The C-L is marginally more efficient than the Jackson city government.
Just a perception of a resignation
The Barksdalers would kill to have as few readers as the C-L does.
At least the C-L tries to operate as a tax-paying entity, and I think has improved in the last year.
How does Mississippi Today get away with being a tax exempt non-profit?
And they do this while being opposed to any tax cuts proposed by the government. Talk about an evil corporation!
They should be in line to get the Grover Norquist award for tax avoidance.
The Clarion Ledger still exists?
Nashville writing headlines
What is a Barksdaler?
They pre-cogged it! They're just way ahead of you!!
For many, many years, used to really enjoy The Clarion Ledger every morning with breakfast. But slowly became not a local newspaper, and price went to $2.50/day. Just could not justify buying it anymore.
Yet another example of how far the quality of the CL has fallen.
Pre-cogged!
First tim the LIAR has been correct in ages
I would love for the Clarion Ledger to hold a town hall or forum to explain its processes so that all of us subscribers understand how these things happen. My guess is that the employee who wrote this headline is a low-level website staffer who had little time to read the article & who had ittle interest in the substance, & most likely is based in another state. Other commenters are right, though - there'snot much quality control going on.
The editor probably figured no one would read it anyway
I can just see Kingfish, grunting, then shitting a brick, thinking our "Only Statewide Newspaper" had scooped him once again.
Then, thirty minutes later, Plop Plop Fizz Fizz, Oh What A Relief It Is. WHEW!
Dewey defeats Truman
"Harris has this in the bag; a shoo-in."
The headlines are written by employees of Gannett in Nashville TN. They don't give two wits about Jackson, or Mississippi.
That's the Clarion-Error sandbox. Wait. What am I saying? The Clarion-Error IS a sandbox.
