Marshall Ramsey was on his A game today in this cartoon published in the Clarion-Ledger.
If you were buried under a blizzard for the last few days, here is the recap.
State Representative John Moore (R- Gold Coast), resigned his position Friday afternoon, citing health reasons. The problem is, no one bought the story since the press release was issued at 5 PM on a Friday when everything was closed due to snow. Politicos also knew that he had attended a legislative conference across the country two weeks ago-something one would not do if suffering from ill-health and expecting to resign from the house.
It turns out the Chairman of the House Education Committee had a sexual harassment problem. Legislative sources confirmed to this website that the House leadership received complaints about Mr. Moore. The leadership consulted an attorney and informed Mr. Moore an investigation would commence. Mr. Moore resigned. Thus the matter is now between John Moore and his accusers. The House can no longer take action against the former Representative since he is no longer a member of the legislature.

John is very smart and thought he had figured a way of not making the news with these allegations---he got fooled.
I predict that many many many more such allegations will surface. I can remember that the republican candidate (RP) was doing the same things back in the sixties with several very young female employees at the republican headquarters. This harassment of young females is a common thing among our elected officials. I suggest every woman that has been taken advantage of by an elected official...SPEAK UP!!!! Tell on these sorry Bastards. If anyone sends their child to Washington or Jackson to be a page, you have to be a total POS.
JM (which stands for John Moore) ain't the only sleaze bag in the Capitol
1:09,
Tell me 1:09 does that makes it right just because there was no law covering sexual harassment? Several young women's lives were ruined by promises that were made be guys like RP, JM, and many others over the years.
What a stupid comment that you just made.
Sorry about this situation with JM, but glad to see that this Speaker is willing to deal with this situation in a solid, and forceful, manner. Unlike previous Speaker, Billy McCoy. When a much more serious issue arose during his term invloving two members and two (underage male) pages, the Speaker acknowledged the problem. He called the two members into his office, slapped them on the wrist, and told them don't do it again. Probably added something like, 'at least don't get caught'.
One of the two is still sitting on his fat behind as a member of the chamber; the other got defeated at the next election. Nothing ever made it to an Ethics Committee, or involved good legal advice.
There are so many situations like you described with Pages that never get brought up unless the victim tells. The power of the positions they were elected to gives them the right to do anything they can get by with---I would be willing to bet that 80% of our Washington officials have sexually harassed someone and 90% of our local officials have sexually harassed someone. I'll go back to the sixties again---I know of one young woman that cut her wrist because one of our representatives made promises he had no intention of keeping. This still goes on everyday---the Bastards need to go to jail.
What the hell happened to "Innocent until proven guilty"?
e pluribus unum (it seems)
I remember when Musgrove was chasing tale when he was governor. One of his assistants I believe. The press hid it. They knew it , but never reported it. Contrast that to how they covered Fordice's affair. The CL stalked him trying to get a picture.
This crap happens every single day at the Capitol. I hope that those who are harassed will come out and speak up. I have never seen a bigger collection of scum in my life. From “Mr. I was drunk on cough syrup” all the way down the line, these creeps need to be ousted.
Kingfish's radar is working overtime for those posts that don't quite fit his narrative.
I don't know much about this subject but I do know that
Marshall Ramsey is a tool. Ramsey was good a few years ago but he is really weak now.
If Ramsey nailed this one then it is a matter of the blind hog finding an acorn.
Agree 100% with 2:12. His political leanings have skewed his subject matter.
