Farewell to Dave.

The Curmudgeon of local talk radio, Dave Ingram, is no longer associated with WFMN. The JT and Dave Show is now just the JT Show. I enjoyed listening to Dave for years as he had a take no prisoners, no apologies approach in stating his opinions on the air. He didn't care who he angered or how he sounded. He was going to speak his mind and everyone else be damned. It is unknown if Paul Gallo will expand his radio show to six hours or if the rumor is true that WFMN has offered Rudy and Mary a chance to do a lunch time show together every day. Anyway, see ya Dave and good luck wherever you go.

why did dave leave? the show won't be the same without him--the best thing about the show was the banter between JT & Dave.

Good riddance - he was as uninformed as he was nasty. I may try listening again as JT always seemed like a reasonable and decent guy.

Where goeth Dave?

dull, vague, and intentionally combative.

Supertalk just announced a new show starting next week in that time slot, "Air Bubba" no other details given. I am assuming JT will be the lead bubba, but just a guess.

A sad day for Mississippi. We will miss you Dave, best of luck. I've listened to the show for the past 10 years. My lunch break will never be the same.

Is that station still on the air?

I listen to the show every time I can. This is a total shocker to me. Loved the banter between the two. Seldom liked Dave's reasoning, but he reminded me of my grandfather. Could someone enlighten me why he left (sans speculation)?

Is the "GARDEN MOMMA" still with the station? What happened to cause Dave's departure?

SuperTalk MS is a wonderful respectable and credible network. Especially during crises, such as Katrina, etc. The only station I listen to.

Although, I believe pulling the rug out from under their loyal Supertalk fans regarding their most popular show is going to cause a huge decrease in a well established audience market.

I will be listening closely tomorrow to see how the network handles the PR fallout and disappointment of loyal and faithful long time listeners. Regardless, I believe they pulled the last plug on a large core audience following. I personally doubt they will be able to recover from the backlash. Hope they know what they are doing. Guess Jack FM won't be too bad from now on.

I wonder if any big advertisers will be canceling scheduled remotes and are already concentrating their ad budgets elsewhere. Only time will tell.

NEVER TRUST NOBODY.

PS: This ain't gonna be change we can believe in.

"Good night and good luck".

A sad, sad occurrence. I recall many years ago when they took over that time slot as "temporary" hosts. When I returned to the area after a near decade-long absence, their show was a nice welcome home. Hope to hear you on the radio soon, Dave.

I've knew Dave even before the Supertalk days - good guy to work with. Best of luck to you Dave.

Enjoyed Show over the years, however..back in 01 when the
vote on the state flag took place, will not forget that "dave" refered to the state flag & I quote... a Nazi Flag.
This is true.

arrogant bully at times; worse when he was inflating his claims of knowledge of full facts on given issues while demonstrating appalling ignorance of same while shouting down callers that didn't agree with him. I always assumed it was an on-air pretense and that nobody could be that obnoxious.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know why he's leaving. The Supertalk website just kind of edited him out. They announced the new "Air Bubba" show with a dumb sounding promo on Salter's show yesterday without even mentioning that it was replacing JT and Dave.

One down, one to go. Even by the rather low standards of local talk radio, the JT and Dave show was a real marsh of biased, off-the-cuff, ignorant analysis, larded with a generous dose of unfunny attempts at humor and promotion of dubious rumors and half-truths.

Why dont these guys try to get the Rush Limbaugh Show for that time slot?? Here in the Jackson metro area, it is on an AM station that you can barely hear or pick up. I will persevere thru event that to hear Rush when I can, but as popular as RL is, one would think that his syndicate would be open to "moving up" to a better, stronger broadcast home.

11:50
Just tuned them in... the sub. "Harley"(from Hattiesburg) is on now & he is even worse !!!

Anonymous said...

was Dave fired? If so, why?

Anonymous said...

i'd have to take a pain pill to listen to RL

I'm going to post this - it is rumor but it is reliable.

Dave's banter and attitude was just becoming too much. A few advertisers did not want to be associated with it. Dave was asked to settle down, and he acted like you would imagine that he would. He was let go.

I imagine that time slot has lost a few listeners, but business is business.

Good-bye and good ridance. I often listen to Gallo and Salter, but the JT&D show was a waste of time. The biased, uneducated and facts-be-damned attitude made it absolutely worthless. 8:43 and 11:07 got it right - biased, ignorant, and arrogant. All while promoting their opinion - and yours if you happen to agree with them - but otherwise degrading anybody that wants to deal with fact and truth.

One down, one to go.

Dave was the only reason I, occasionally, listened to the that biased, uneducated nonsense. He was the smart one of the pair. J. T. has the credibility and intellect of a pebble. Dave's a great guy. I hope he lands on his feet.

jt will be next. when your mocking mexican accent sounds just like your mocking chinese accent, well...

Anonymous said...

I found them both typical bubba dumbasses and an embarrassment to the south.

Anonymous said...

The only person worth listening to on that show is Lacy the producer....

Hundreds of state workers breathe a sigh of relief.

MPB celebrates.

2:19 has it right. That wonderful on-air demeanor of his wasn't an act. The friction between the two was real, and sometimes worse off the air than on. When the advertisers (customers) start to complain, something has to change quickly. He was apparently unwilling to change...so adios Dave.

Well - the show is dead. Like him or not, the combination of the two is what made it bearable.

JT is far, far too stupid to do without Dave. I'm guessing Dave finally got sick of explaining to JT how the light switch worked every day when they showed up to work.

the jt and dave show is about the biggest ripoff for a business! they ripped The Outfitter Hunting and fishing! what a waste of 2500.00 bucks for there live remote!

RIP OFF!

Wow. Put it out there brother. Sorry to hear they were not worth it.

I was in Jackson a couple of years ago for a wedding, and fumbling to find a radio station found "JT and Dave". I couldn't believe my ears that these two buffoons were actually on the air. The more I listened, the madder I got until I changed the station. I would LOVE to know their I.Q.'s.

Anonymous said...

Dave spoke numerous times on things he knew nothing about.

Anonymous said...

It's a shame. I loved the show with both of them. I moved from the state and just found out. Sad sad sad.

I alway enjoyed it when one of them would say, in reference to a crime story, "Was there drankin involved?"

The personalities on this station are extremely racist and backwards thinking.. If Mississippi has any hope in moving forward to the 21st century with the rest of the Country, we will need to stop listening to personalities who want to keep the good people of State of Mississippi dumb down..

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices.
