Well, well, Madame DeLadd is at it again, this time having a fit about today's cartoon:
"Everyone here knows I'm sure no Clinton fan, but am I the only one who finds Marshall Ramsey's cartoon today over the top as a depiction of a serious female presidential candidate? Thoughts? Posted by: ladd on Feb 12, 08 12:41 pm

I'm not talking about the sentiment, Iron. I'm talking about her being turned into an angry witch with her butt so over-exaggerated. The frothing-angry-big-butted image is such a hackneyed way to make fun of a woman that I'm surprised Ramsey did it. Posted by: ladd on Feb 12, 08 1:08 pm
Isn't it a "Bloody Mary" witch-in-the-mirror reference? Posted by: ladd on Feb 12, 08 1:43 pm" (Ever heard of Snow White or were you reading about Bloody Mary at age 5? -KF)
Maybe I'm stupid but I would have never thought Hillary had a big butt in the cartoon until The Vengeance pointed it out in her posts. Even after looking at it closely, I don't think that ass could be called a ghetto booty by any stretch of the imagination. Of course, I am having to interpret the butt because I can not even see the butt in the cartoon and I'm looking real hard for it. As an expert on female asses, I am trying to critique the female ass in question. Maybe the Vengeance has those comic book x-ray glasses. It seems to me as if Mr. Ramsey drew a middle-aged woman dressed in professional attire looking in a magic mirror, standard editorial cartoonist fare. Of course, I seem to remember her freaking out because she thought a comment by someone that candidates backed by the JFP were "going down in flames" was a threat to firebomb her offices so maybe this is more of a case of someone simply not having a sense of humor or appreciating satire.
If Mr. Ramsey had drawn Frank Melton instead of Hillary Clinton in the cartoon, I can assure you that the tone of those comments would have been much different. What is ironic is their idea of humor is to depict a black woman as a maid, thus reinforcing negative stereotypes about blacks and women. Progressive indeed.
A parting note just for Donna Ladd:
Update: I think I know what was driving this little critique of Mr. Ramsey. Poynteronline is a website that focuses on the media industry, http://poynter.org/medianews. It posted a story this week from the Louisville Courier-Journal, "Do cartoonists have special rules for drawing Clinton, Obama?" and the following passage from the story:"Pam Platt wonders how editorial cartoonists use exaggeration and caricature with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama without falling into sexist or racist traps." http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080210/COLUMNISTS10/802100428/1022 I have a sneaking suspicion someone is wanting to be picked up by the google search engine gods when "cartoons" and "sexism" are used as search terms or wants to be noticed by a trade website.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who's the whiniest journalist of all?
Another example where Ladd would like you to practice what she preaches though she'll abstain from following.
Look no further than the effort Ladd, herself, lead to heap humiliation and denigration upon Shirlene Anderson.
But, that is what you do King to wake up your moribund web site. You through red meat in to the shark tank.
my website is moribund? Say it aint so!!! Take it back!!!
No, no, no, no. The JFP has been dead. Needy for attention and adoration Ladd had to wake up her baker's dozen. What better way than to hammer the C-L.
I think the person with the fixation on women's bodies is Donna Ladd. Maybe she feels guilty.
um, I didn't post the link for a reason. after she made her comment about the doc driving traffic.
And what, pray tell, is wrong with a big ole butt. I kinda like them that way
I like big butts and it ain't no lie.....
Karma returns when you least expect it.

Oh, I get it
You need to warn people of the graphic nature of this comment string.
Wow, I'm threatened again. I wonder who it could be.
I can't find her comment thread on the JFP site. Do you have the link?
I could be wrong, but I don't believe Donna has ever complained about Marshall drawing Steve Holland as a gravely obese man or Frank Melton as a diminutive dictator. I'm inclined to suspect a double standard. How's the tax lien coming, anyway?

"Karma returns when you least expect it"
This is not a threat, just a fact.
Good thing I don't believe in karma.

Of course King she is manipulating search engines. It is all part of the plan to overstate the size of her online readership over at the JournoFraudPress.
Karma = Buddhism.
Seems to me that Ladd has already been tasting some of that good ol' karma.
The tax liens have been released. They were released on Jan. 28.
and Gipper, since you are running back and forth stirring up stuff, you can take this back to your master:
I have criticized Melton for the crap said about Faye Peterson's sex life as that was trashy, disgusting, and out of bounds. I would've slapped the hell out of that punk for that if it had been me. It truly showed Melton's true nature. There are plenty of things to criticize Faye Peterson about concerning her job performance without getting taking that low road.
A view into Ladd's Logical Labyrinth:
That's an easy distinction. The problem with Melton and Anderson is that he turned her into a maid, and she allowed him to. It's important to remember that I sat in his kitchen and watched her clean up after all of us, including the mayor and her assistant chief, and in front of media. I (and my photographers and the cartoonist) also rode around with her on the Mobile Command Center and watched her be there only to enable Melton to do anything he wanted to do. And on the first ride-along, he reeked of liquor, and she didn't do anything to stop him from strapping on weapons and doing all the crazy stuff we did that night.
In other words, the depiction of her as a maid was always in the context of him degrading the city's first black woman chief into the most horrible stereotype and her going along with it. It would be further degrading to them not to call them out on sending such an awful message out both about her gender and her race, and Darren's cartoons did that brilliantly. On point, many black women have thanked us for doing them because they, er, got it.
On this point, read my column, "The Mayor and His Women." It ends with:
It took Melton’s treatment of Barrett-Simon to get many folks’ attention about his shabby treatment of powerful women—especially North Jacksonians, many of whom believed Melton’s initial sound bites about running all the “thugs” out of town.
After all the shenanigans he’s pulled—most resulting in mistreatment of poor African Americans and excuse making for young criminals in his house, who so clearly need help he can’t give—it was his demonization of Barrett-Simon that made many people wake up (and, I suspect, drew that half-assed apology from Melton to her last week). I’ve heard many people say that he really “crossed the line” when he dissed her in such a way.
But that chivalry is overdue. Melton pole vaulted over the line with his ploy to turn a law-and-order district attorney into a cheap whore, and he set the progress of women, especially black women, back 100 years by forcing his police chief to parade around like an obedient maid, at his beck and call. Jackson women deserve better. As does the chief.
I'll bet you money that the people complaining about the Shirlene cartoons haven't raised an eyebrow about the assaults and body insults of the D.A. Bet ya. If they were consistent, they might have an iota of credibility. But they never are.

Fire away.
There is nobody over there reading anyway. If you want to get a feel then just look at those who comment. Yesterday during the 24 hours that were Feb12 there we 98 total comments. Ladd posted 31% of the total while five of her "regulars" posted another 40% of the total combined.
Same choir, same song just a different day.
Well, let's be honest.
Hillary has a "lot of junk in the
trunk."
My favorite was when she tried to throw the White House Travel Office Employees in jail.
There goes Ladd again attacking people. Doesn't look to me that Marshall "over-exaggerated".
by the way, I'm not defensive at all about that cartoon. I like them BOTH. I love satire and humor. Cartoon makes fun of white guys purple girls you name it, I'm down with it unless it is slanderous. Shirlene's cartoon was really not offensive to me. Found it funny actually as I found Marshall's. I just find it hypocritical that someone else is slamming Ramsey when they have that kind of stuff on her own website. If pointing out hypocrisy is being defensive, oh well. Apparently it hit a nerve because she has gone to some trouble in her logical labyrinth and in classic binary thinking tries to say oh, don't look at me, look at them because they are defensive. Too funny.
The Gun Guy is right but she'll never admit it.
