Shut It Down

A homicide took place on I-220.  WAPT reported:

This is the second homicide related to the M Bar in less than seven months.  Multiple homicidal events in less than a year should get any bar shut down.  Ironically, the nightclub posted this notice on Facebook:

The M Bar is in an area that is the last halfway decent tax base in Jackson.  The city simply can not afford to allow such a thug bar to operate in Northeast Jackson.

Two dead people is enough.  Shut the mother_____ down.  Period.

I don’t remissed leaving Jackson

The clientele will find another place after this one shutters it’s doors.

The locusts ate West Jackson 25 years ago, and left it in rubble. They then turned to South Jackson 15 years ago, and ate it to the core, leaving nothing but criminal misery and destruction. The locusts are now concentrating on fertile and formerly innocent Northeast Jackson, fully realizing they can feast there with no reprisal as the city's leader lives there and is as mute as a wooden Indian regarding the carnage.

Sad state of affairs in Jackson getting followed and shot over a parking spot.

How does one not know that they have been shot go home, go to bed and die. Were they not bleeding?

Serious question: what law allows the city to shut down a business if their patrons break the law off their property? Would the same laws allow other businesses such as gun shops to be shut down in similar fashion?

If you shut down everything in Jackson that is the site of a killing [or two or three], there's not going to be much left.

Stupid is as Stupid Does said...

If you don't want to get shot don't hang out with thugs at 3:00 AM when you should be home with your 2-year old. Where is your baby daddy? Duh!

Insensitive? The truth hurts because it should. Life's tough, and it's tougher when you do stupid things.

If one is going to step off their porch and play with the big dogs you had better be packing heat too.

No one ever deserves that but she was starting a new job a day later and was at the bar at 3 am arguing over parking spots... and has a 2 year old. Decision making at its finest. I hope they catch the person who did it and punish them with the full extent of the law.

There isn't much left now.

This, here, a total load of garbage:

We are presented with a new day here in Jackson....

It is a day which brings forth the promise of a new system of governance that is shared by the people and influenced by the people of Jackson.

This day also presents new challenges. We find ourselves confronted with an opportunity to continue on the prosperous path that we have set out on, or returning to the stagnant place from which we came.

With my candidacy I offer the People’s Platform that my father ran on and I co-authored. It is a platform which arises out of several years of discussion on human rights, political, economic, and social empowerment.

We will rebuild our infrastructure, we will create jobs for Jacksonians, we will provide holistic solutions to crime, and we will improve our educational system.

When we made the decision to introduce ourselves into electoral politics back in 2008 we stated then that we were running on an agenda of compassion, justice, and human rights.

That’s our story and we’re sticking to it!

You know I have the same question. When I was living in Clinton I lived right off East Northside Drive. I would take it to Downtown Jackson and pass by Nitelyfe. I know it got shut down over several shootings (if I remember correctly numbering about 3 maybe 4) back sometime between 2015 and 2017.

Some of these comments are harsh. Where her child's father was while she was out does not make any difference. What does mater is that a young mother is dead and the crime in this city is out of hand. The City leadership does need to do better andaddress the issue and stop making excuses. I don't think the MBAR should be shut down but no bar needs to be open at 3am.

To all the ignorant commenters that didn’t have nothing but cruel things to say: Miserable people live miserable lives... So for you to comment evil and hateful things I really feel sad for you. Someone has just lost their life what should it matter about her freaking baby dad or how someone not know their bleeding. At this point, who really care because a precious life was taken from someone’s family senselessly. What if it was your love one you wouldn’t want someone to talk negatively over their deceased body. But, if you took out the time to speak negatively about someone that’s DECEASED that you don’t even know you would do it to anyone(including your family). I just hope you miserable and devil 👿 worshipping people change your ways. Jesus is coming back and he’s coming even if you don’t believe he’s real. Praying for the family and that justice is served for the clowns that’s responsible.

Wow. How many of you knuckleheads went to the Dock, On the Rocks, Subway, and of course, Pops until the wee hours of the morning when you were 25?

12:06, the difference is nobody got murdered there. These thug bars breed gunfights.

I crawled out of the Subway a few times. Just before daylight and gorging myself on Miss Karen's fried chicken.

If the population that frequents these night spots could act like civilized human beings who don't resort to guns as their go-to solution for every conflict, there wouldn't be so much backlash and criticism against nightlife in Jackson.

fed up in Jackson said...

well, today in the news, the mayor is saying it doesn't matter how many officers we hire, and then he rambles on w/ more excuses......and Stokes states that the CITY needs to do something about this violent crime, and not that I disagree w/ Stokes, but I have to wonder if he realizes that he is 1/7 of THE CITY (i.e municipal leadership)....the council needs to call the mayor out on his inaction and rhetoric, and the council needs to stop waiting on direction, and push the mayor aside

"We will rebuild our infrastructure, we will create jobs for Jacksonians, we will provide holistic solutions to crime, and we will improve our educational system."

Well, the infrastructure is worse, the Mayor's new jobs and improved education plan appears to be non existent . . . and we all know this
goofy "holistic solutions to crime approach" damn sure hasn't worked.

BUT. . . the Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi does always look very debonair each time he has a 2 minute interview on MSNBC.

LOL.

Both of the above observations are the truth !

Hell, I was still watching the Sunrise in the Dock's parking lot when I was 31.

Sure, fights were not uncommon after 1 A.M, but for God's sake . . . we didn't shoot each other.

11:45 With the exception of your last 2 sentences, the rest of your completely off-base comments are indicative of why this city cannot and will not change. It's terribly sad that this young woman lost her life, but it came as a direct consequence to the decisions she made. Am I saying I made better decisions than her when i was her age? Absolutely not! I look back at those times, and it's a wonder I survived myself!.....but I have to be honest and realize that the consequences I DID encounter were normally about 99.9% as a result of the decisions I made. I'm just fortunate that I didn't grow up in these current times, where altercations routinely end up with someone dying! That would have been unfathomable in the places I went in Jackson 30 years ago. Of course, it happened....but not EVERYWHERE in Jackson.

The majority of the residents of Jackson are now cultivating a society that's unsustainable, a society that simply can't continue to function like this. It's crass, and self-serving, and unproductive, and meaningless, and many times deadly .....yet the majority of the "leaders" of this city simply see nothing wrong with it. It's the culture in which their constituents live, and they're happy to look the other way, just so long as too many of their votes aren't taken away from death or incarceration or...... On the other hand, those who feign outrage just make empty statements about it, and then do zero about it. And truthfully, if we really look hard at the situation, there's not just a whole hell of a lot they CAN do about it! It's just a cultural decline that has to be dealt with from within the culture, yet the "leaders" appear to be fomenting more of it! Damndest thing I've ever seen!

You can claim you're incredulous about the comments on JJ, but at the end of the day, people are just commenting on how Jackson now operates. Until the residents decide they want to start living in a real "society," NOTHING in Jackson will change. It'll just keep getting worse year by year......as it has been for MANY years now. If I'm wrong on this, please change my mind...................

You are correct.

That’s why I operate a moving company. I help move poor people to Madison the city. I help move poor people to Brandon.

No one wants to be around Jackson so it’s time to get out.

Rankin has zero regulations on apartments so builders are buying up land and making plans for 1,000s of new residents.

You are right...Jackson is doomed....

4:02 Please go find the nearest ocean and jump your off base miserable living of a pathetic life in there. I said what I said and meant exactly what I meant. You obviously don’t get any attention at home you felt the need to come on here and give a whole sermon on the city of Jackson. If you don’t live in the city you 🤡 who gives to donkeys about what you even have to say. Express sympathy and move on you AIRHEAD.

8:36 I see what you did there. Good try.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
