They could have done like JPS and Hinds Co Schools, followed the regular schedule, and had kindergarteners trapped on the road between fallen trees. Or they could have done like Rankin Co schools, and kept the kids in the hallways staring at the walls for three hours. Instead, Madison Co and Clinton had all their students home by 1:00, right before the worst of the weather hit. They were there long enough to have a 60% day, which means they won't have to make it up.

It is an almost impossible task for schools to figure out the right thing to do with often-unreliable weather predictions. Do they err on the side of protecting the kids, or err on the side of keeping the school day intact? No matter what they decide, someone is going to be pissy about it. Madison Co and Clinton got it about as close to right as any school district could get in today's situation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-19140121259175172492019-04-18T18:30:52.767-05:002019-04-18T18:30:52.767-05:00Sounds like they wanted the kids to make a half da...Sounds like they wanted the kids to make a half day to avoid having to make up a day. Typical bad behavior. Put the kids at risk (travel to and from school) so we can stay off for a long weekend. I'd get into the "In my day we didn't get off for weather", but I'm to old to remember and no one would care.TheClintonscantsuicideusallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06496847149042995864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-66770237247724918592019-04-18T18:03:35.518-05:002019-04-18T18:03:35.518-05:00Gaming the system comes to mind.Gaming the system comes to mind.Rod Knoxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14028117522559695331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-54871436590050588772019-04-18T16:28:00.886-05:002019-04-18T16:28:00.886-05:00Was this decision made by the same people who hire...Was this decision made by the same people who hired that woman from Tennessee?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-83199676227809857942019-04-18T13:47:03.893-05:002019-04-18T13:47:03.893-05:00Why spend the time, effort, and funds to bus them ...Why spend the time, effort, and funds to bus them to school and then bring them home?
