I doubt more than a handful of people on the coast knew the name, much less anything about her a month ago. And likely as not, a large percentage of the coast votes are reflective of a "white and not Pickering - that's do..." attitude. From what I've heard, she (surprisingly) didn't really court the voters on the coast. Frankly, that surprised me because the Jackson area voters are pretty well strongly decided for or against her, whereas on the coast, she could have spent a few days down there saying little more than "Remember, come Tuesday, I'm not Stacey Pickering so vote for me!" and convinced a whole bunch of voters to do just that. Hell, the "just out to get 'em" stuff might have helped sway voters her way on the coast.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-13508830624029557302015-08-04T19:43:13.597-05:002015-08-04T19:43:13.597-05:00Kingfish, since polls are closed what's your p...Kingfish, since polls are closed what's your prediction?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-36660120057810267282015-08-04T19:30:50.270-05:002015-08-04T19:30:50.270-05:00CL reporting very low turnout in Rankin.CL reporting very low turnout in Rankin.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-64447736620353040802015-08-04T19:29:52.898-05:002015-08-04T19:29:52.898-05:00Rack size decreases post-birth.Rack size decreases post-birth.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-4402102223120864312015-08-04T18:46:23.631-05:002015-08-04T18:46:23.631-05:00Mary will win the coast. The word from the coa...Just tossing this out there. The word from the coast is that people are PISSED at many local incumbents and Pickering and are voting their displeasure. Combine that with the dearth on the coast of any electable Democrats (and many races with no Dem challenger). Dems were being strongly encouraged to vote in the Republican primary to "throw the bums out!" This might lead to some weird numbers for Bryant, Reeves and their challengers from the coast. Combine that with the reverse in the Jackson-area counties, and if both area primaries are "cross-voted," things could be really strange. Obviously, Bryant and Reeves are gonna win, but the numbers might appear strange at first.

And this isn't a prediction, just a comment - the Auditor race will be interesting and it would not surprise me if it was up in the air until all votes are counted, esp. if you get a fair number of the aforementioned "cross-party" voting in the Jackson area and on the coast.
