Most of the minority students that are going to private schools are on some kind of a minority "scholarship" which is less than half of what the white families are paying. The leadership at JA and St. Andrews won't talk about it because it is too inflammatory to those shelling out the big buck at full price. You'll see tribal flags and start to understand that one flag and one flag only matters. You'll probably grow up enough to appreciate the fact that you're in a school environment where you can spend the time studying, in class or at your part-time job instead of being concerned about mortars and IEDs (no Kenny, not IUDs). Just go to class, shut up and learn something. Diversity is nothing more or less than taking a snapshot and judging it.

If you pour a sack of marbles into a pan and there are similarly round marbles of similar color and weight, the marble pool is judged to be diverse. If not, corrections must be made. Some of the marbles must be marked defective and either removed from the sack or reshaped.

If another snapshot doesn't indicate significant progress or success, marbles from sources other than this sack must be sought and put into the sack. If that doesn't result in a diverse marble group, screaming and demanding change and shaming the marbles with enough energy to cause some of them to simply roll away must occur. Eventually those in charge of diversifying marbles think they will have progress/success/equality and they write books and journal articles about their plans and efforts. But it never works. Diversity for the sake of diversity becomes ...1:16

Diversity for the sake of diversity becomes adversity.

It's equally odd how those who harp about equality feel so strongly that employing unequal parameters is the correct path to equality. The incorrect means justify the incorrect ends. Or two wrongs not making a right.

Diversity originates from diverte (change direction) and is itself born of an action. It requires input. "Creating" diversity does nothing but forces individuals to accept diversity for it's sake. It does not teach individuals to understand diversity from a homogeneous viewpoint. And frankly, that's where this liberal mental masturbation is born from. Things like "white privilege" and cultural acceptance and "equality" are all used to intimate that the individual should be ashamed of being an individual and ashamed of their heritage, especially if their heritage is not of a protected class. For, the protected class' heritage is to be celebrated.

It's very simple, 1:16, diversity is not taught, forced or directed. It is something to be understood. If diversity was necessary for the future interactions of young adults then I feel sure the public education complex in this country would be tripping over themselves to instill diversity training and have diversity officers in ghetto schools and HBCs. For those individuals would need to be forcibly exposed to the cultures of whities in order for them to succeed in the "real world."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-50370499991237343582016-04-15T15:18:15.119-05:002016-04-15T15:18:15.119-05:00To the guy who wants to know why they don't hi...To the guy who wants to know why they don't hire more minority professors: us dept of education says in year 2009-10 ( latest reported) doctoral degrees were earned by whites (74.3%), Asian 11.8, black 7.4, Hispanic 5.8, American Indian 0.7. It is ironic that the same people complaining about "safe spaces" are also criticizing schools like Jackson Prep who are, essentially, trying to get rid of what has historically been a "safe space" for privileged white kids from NE Jackson. I grew up with kids that went to private school, then joined the right frat in college and didn't have to interact with anyone but other well off white kids all the way through adulthood. When they entered the job market and had to work with (and for) people of other cultures, races, sexual orientation, etc., they were not prepared. Schools should not wrap their students in warm, safe cocoons if they want to prepare them for succeeding in the real world. Just the opposite.

I don't see how a head of school's dismantling (or at least diluting) of a "safe space" can be seen as "liberal." I don't think it springs forth from some conservative agenda, either. What Dr. Walton and other administrators like him are doing is simply their job as educators, to try and prepare their students to adapt and succeed in the real world.

If you still find yourself getting upset about a push for diversity, try to concentrate less on how it helps the minority student, and try to think more about how it helps the white kid. It won't make you a better person, but at least you'll feel a little bit better about it. Rankin County families don't feel the pressure to send their kids to JP because they live in an A school district although JP provides a better education. Rankin has a decent alternative while Jackson does not. That is probably driving the diversity recruitment to some degree. I will admit I'm speculating and don't mind being told I'm wrong on this point.
