My FIRST reaction was that I hoped the police had been notified because it was very Columbine-ish sounding. I knew the school was onto it since the kids were already suspended when I saw the posting.

This did not appear to me to be a joke on the part of either of the boys. It was very specific and over the top threatening. Even my own recent SJ graduates, and the room full of current students who showed the posting to me thought the actions of the school were appropriate. Many of the students even thought the school hadn't gone far enough by simply suspending them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-90563289922066799542010-04-18T15:39:35.630-05:002010-04-18T15:39:35.630-05:00I bet if they check into their backgrounds they wi...I bet if they check into their backgrounds they will probably find they abuse animals! If anything, it affirms the image of a responsibile school that is open and proactive in enforcing school policy. If I had a child at this school (yes, I am a parent) I would have been more upset to learn of this incident after the fact, and basically after it was quietly swept under a rug.

Making threats is no small matter. The sooner you learn that the better. If kids this age haven't been taught that by now (at home), then it's up to someone else to make it clear and enforce a no tolerance policy. Running your mouth is one thing, but threatening lives and property is another.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-30996964539964472542010-04-17T23:58:54.842-05:002010-04-17T23:58:54.842-05:008:54-Yes I am a parent. Kids need to know that it is not okay to make threats against others or the school. Kind of the same way that when a homeowner uses the castle doctrine on an intruder...maybe word will get out to the bad guys that someone will shoot your ass if you invade someone else's home. Other kids need to get the message that it is serious business to make a threat and that there are consequences....I'm sure the parents of these kids are p.o.ed that these brats did this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-36092604373936227482010-04-17T20:54:07.332-05:002010-04-17T20:54:07.332-05:00So how many that commented have kids?

It appears that the school has no mechanism to deal with troubled students. If they have to rely on the STATE to help, and it appears here, these must be good students; READ: NO CHARGES FILED. Specifics would be inappropriate as they are children. Not so with Robbie.

Second, the school should have kept this in house as they are minors in a private environment. Madison appears to be overstepping its bounds or the school is, again, ill equiped to deal with the situation.

If it was serious, I believe that more would have been said.

As for MCSD, I do not know, but will venture to guess, issues like this get swept a great deal (wanna talk drugs?). With wealth (even if its leveraged) comes a great deal of forgiveness.

I do not support the school making this public. I find it a shame. If the school and the parents can't handle this situation, it tells me the school is ill equipped to deal with real problems.

I pray these children do not have to deal with this situation in the future. Damn, remember the crap you did as a kid?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-45407120674508617582010-04-17T18:58:37.959-05:002010-04-17T18:58:37.959-05:00Good for St. Joe for taking action.
