The problem for our future generations is that the term "ignorant" will cover a larger and larger segment of society in years to come. Most of us will be "ignorant" in most respects that really count when compared to a computerized automaton designed by other computers to do what even so-called intelligent people once did. This past election reflects the anxiety common people already feel when they lose their jobs in a place they one thought was "safe". Corporate America moves according to it's bottom line, not saving jobs, so we know it's going to get worse. The only question is how will people react, and what will be the scope and duration of the battle. After that, there'll be a "new world order" . Sound crazy? Look around. Having babies shouldn't be a god given right anymore, you should have to apply for a license and pay to bring another mouth into existence. Poverty breeds worse poverty, the poor breed faster than the better off due to survival instinct. If we reduced the global populous by 50 percent in 20-30 years years think about the better quality of life we all would have. I know this sounds horrible but it is the only real solution to save our species. We will eventually overpopulate the world, poison everything, and fight over the remaining limited resources until we are all dead.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-70604050762872655892016-12-09T07:25:47.878-06:002016-12-09T07:25:47.878-06:00I wonder how that wonderful technology will deal w...I wonder how that wonderful technology will deal with the inevitable hoards of shoplifters ?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-48246464011449779542016-12-08T21:36:13.974-06:002016-12-08T21:36:13.974-06:005:22pm, there won't be any pitchforks. We just are.

The entire basis of capitalism as distribution system is the assumption that the vast majority of people will be able to (at minimum) sell unskilled labor in exchange for a subsistence wage. That will not be true in 50 years. Computers and robots are going to take jobs away from humans at an increasing rate.

And this won't be like past revolutions --where technology destroyed one job but created others-- because robots/computers will be able to adapt quickly to do pretty much anything that doesn't require unusual knowledge or creativity. And then, to do things that DO require these abilities.

So we can either begin thinking of some workable system to distribute basic income to everyone, or we can wait until the former truckers, waiters, and construction workers show up with pitchforks to take it.

But blaming the technology is like blaming Ford for the plight of buggy whip makers.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2447438783001404385.post-3068282742957042762016-12-08T16:56:39.173-06:002016-12-08T16:56:39.173-06:004:20pm, so what's your point?
