This is the last call for the annual JJ fundraising-drive. Thanks for the donations and support. Thank you very much for reading this blog over the years. Who would've thought that a website which started as a little ole blog back in 2007 would become a leading news and commentary website in Mississippi six years later. It's been a pretty good ride and a pleasure getting to know many of you.

JJ obtained through a public records request the lease for the Madison campus of Jackson State University and all associated correspondence. JSU and Dick Ambrosino, the CEO of Parkway Development, signed the leases on January 28, 2013. The site is located within the Parkway East public improvement district. Some highlights of the lease:

Looking for some new video entertainment? Check out House of Cards on Netflix. First month is free. Excellent scriptwriting. Kevin Spacey knocks his role out of the ballpark. You can tell he is enjoying it. Kind of as much as Pacino enjoying playing the Devil. Here is the trailer:

This picture is on page 3 of the Spring 2012 issue of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement newsletter. Jackson Mayoral candidate Chokwe Lumumba is a member of this group. He is not just any member but rather is one of their stars. See for yourself on the website. MXGM held fundraisers for Chokwe all over the country this year. The Jackson chapter of the "movement" uses the same phone number as...... the Chokwe Lumumba campaign headquarters. Don't take my word for it. Look below:

This is REALLY not safe for works or kids. This video was taken at the Iroquois Steeplechase in Nashville. This video may be offensive. Language. Violence. Questionable um, nudity. These videos have it all. Don't say you weren't warned.

The Clarion-Ledger picked up the Bigger Pie Forum story on the Mississippi Department of Education first posted on this website. BPF reported last week MDE inflated school ratings. The Clarion-Ledger stated yesterday:
Looks like another email was sent to our conscript fathers in the legislature. Obviously none of the allegations in the email are true. This is posted for your amusement and to show you what kind of trash our leaders receive from some constituents. Enjoy.

Bryan Eason complained in a Clarion-Ledger article about how long it took to obtain election results for each Jackson precinct last week. Jackson should have posted the results online within twenty-four hours of the polls closing but there were some reasons why it did not occur.

The meeting's tone changed dramatically once Mr. Sigman began taking questions. It was contentious and highly emotional. Most of the people present were there specifically to discuss the RV/trailer park and there was overwhelming opposition to the proposal. After much back and forth between the PRV and leaseholders and Y parents, the discussion was basically tabled. We were told that the decision on whether to add RV pads in front of the Reservoir Y would be made by the PRV board. We were not told when the board would meet nor when this topic would be discussed and decided.

Note: Starting poll over. Didn't realize Dr. McCaa retired. My apologies. Removed her and added the next place, Gail Pittman and Lisa Looser. They were one vote apart so I'm going to be nice. It is my poll.
Time for the top businesswoman's poll. We ran a poll of the top businesswomen in the Jackson area last fall. This poll is for the top ten finalists. They are all business owners or partners in their respective businesses. Unlike the Mississippi Business Journal, there are no gummint employees, no partners in 200 partner law firms in this poll. These women are the true owners. They sacrificed, they worked long hours, they wear many different hats. If they don't show up, things don't get done. They are usually balancing families and the business together. Here are the finalists:

Governor Haley Barbour apparently grew in office, as he changed his mind and supported an internet sales tax in his farewell speech as Governor. CL reporter Jimmie Gates and other media were beside themselves as they saw a Republican supporting new taxes. Mr. Gates recently wrote:

Canton alderman Louis Smith was arraigned in federal court today on one count of bribery. Judge Linda Anderson set bond at $10,000. A federal grand jury indicted the alderman. He was arrested in Canton yesterday. The charge carries up to ten years in jail and/or a fine of less than $250,000.
Here is my first question for Chokwe and Jonathan: What are you going to do about Harvey's little time bomb? It's ticking and the ticking is not going to stop. Take a look at this table JJ posted three years ago:

The election night fun starts now. Fire away with comments. Drink of choice tonight: Bulleit Rye.
Feel free to post updates from Canton today. So far its been interesting. Poll watchers were not allowed anywhere near the tables at one precinct this morning. The Perrysaurus appeared on the scene and others. Problem was straightened out. Canton PD was recently called out to one precinct (Canton Elementary) as the nursing home folks showed up with their um, handlers and bedlam ensued. Situation now under control.Click Here to Read More..
I will be live-blogging the election results tonight. Fire away with the comments starting around 7:30. I will discuss the election results tomorrow on WJNT at 8:05 on 1180 AM. Malcolm White will appear on the first half hour to discuss the election and the Full Spectrum flap. Post your election comments on this thread.Click Here to Read More..
Leaders polarize. They divide. They challenge. It is in our nature to go along to get along but we need leaders. We like leaders, but at the same time, many are threatened by them, as they remind us of what we lack in ourselves. Strong leaders arouse passion. They are either loved or hated as few fall between the two sides. Such is the Mayor of Madison.

The battle to survive the first round towards becoming the next Mayor of Jackson enters its final days. Some Jacksonians get worked up over who wins while others ask “why would anyone want the job?” Why indeed. Election Man returns to the newspaper as Marshall Ramsey draws to his heart’s content. While its Christmas time for the sketcher of Tiny Wheels, Her Laddness over at the Jackson Free Press froths at the mouth over the mere thought of anyone opposing her man Harvey. The business community swings punches wildly in yet another attempt to dethrone the king as they empty their bank accounts. Then there are two councilmen who think they deserve promotions while they leave everyone baffled or beside themselves every time they talk. Let us not forget the lawyer who is trying to follow the Lynn Fitch route… I am woman, vote for me. Meanwhile the voters can’t wait for Wednesday to get here as they sound like Republican voters in 2008: is this the best we can do?

The Department of Revenue recently signed a lease agreement with SC-Clinton. The department will move into the building in 2014. The state will lease the premises for $233,333 per month. The lease, the Duckworth proposal, and the RFP are posted below.
This letter was sent to every member of the legislature as well as quite a few other people. Obviously most, if not all, of it is not true. Just thought I'd post it for humor purposes and to show you what our leaders have to deal with at times. Enjoy.

District Attorney Michael Guest issued the following press release:
The FBI arrested three friends of the Boston Bombers yesterday. Here is the affidavit of the Special Agent. You know the story by now. They went to school with the younger brother. They didn't want him to get in trouble. They took his backpack and computer and threw them away. The also lied to the FBI when first interviewed. The government charged them with conspiracy to obstruct justice. The affidavit below contains some interesting details.

I haven't had time to write the story on yesterday's board meeting, but here is the video of the meeting and the auditor's report. See my tweets on Twitter @Kingfish1935 for more notes from the meeting. In a nutshell, the auditor reported his findings and recommendations to the MPACT Board in a four-hour meeting yesterday. The Board of Trustees decided to establish committees to study the findings and make recommendations to the trustees. Quick notes:

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.
Note: Security provided by INS.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.
If you get tired come relax at the Fox News Tent. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both will entitle you to free drinks.Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required, just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '07 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.
